Love in the Word Church

Joy Bible College and Seminary

“We’re wherever you are!’"

CHANCELOR’S MESSAGE

Welcome to Joy Bible College and Seminary of LITWChurch. After many years of campus only instruction, we have now moved to cyberspace – a classroom to meet the news of this new world! This is the college you have been looking for and finally you found it. Our approach to Scripture and its application to daily living is unequalled. We have chewed scripture to make it not only simple to understand but make it enjoyable. Our faculty works around the clock to ensure quality is maintained and to ensure students get it right. I believe by the end of your learning in whichever course of study you are pursuing in our school, your level of engagement will reach its peak. To demystify heresy and wrong notions about pastoral work and ministry in general, the college gives you a cogent understanding of what the secular world thinks so that you are able to reason at par! For many years of ministry and study, we have witnessed this college meeting your foundational basics of ministry upon which you can build a successful career. This is the dawn of valor. Stand up and be counted as a man/woman of valor by joining us …Jehovah immekā, Gibbor (“The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”) Judges 6:12.

WHO WE ARE

Joy Bible College and Seminary is an institution that teaches God’s word in its literal form. It is designed to fit into the trainee’s itinerary. Shepherds can take the courses at any time of the year in their places of work without interfering with their calendar of events. The college was born out of the need to train many servants at affordable fee, curb misinterpretation of Scripture, and foster a cohesion battle against the devil. We are non-denominational in approach. We train pastors for your ministry or pastors to go and start their own ministries. Shepherds undergoing training are taught the importance of both horizontal and vertical bonding because we believe the Lord called us into the same Vineyard hence the need for harmony. We now offer all course work in cyberspace, so “We’re wherever you are!”.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe all truth is God’s truth and thus God’s word is the all truth. We endeavor to train well-rounded students and capable SERVANTS WHO WILL HANDLE God’s word rightfully. Paul told Timothy, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Tim 2:15). Properly analyzing God’s word and presenting it in its literal form keeps at bay inane interpretations preached by false teachers in our churches today! We encourage students to take each course seriously and hunger to go further as this will help broaden their understanding of the word of God. This includes a culture of research on emerging issues. It is our believe that students graduating from our college will competently take their space in society and bring the necessary changes. Our focus is to produce ministry-oriented students who will handle church affairs and any other issues courageously and ultimately revere God.

VISION

It is the vision of Joy Bible College and Seminary of LITWChurch to impact society with the knowledge of Jesus Christ through holistic training of servant-leaders adequately equipped for the global spectrum.

MISSION

We embrace the universal call to ministry and the building of the Body of Christ through teaching Scripture as the inerrant Word of God and the redemptive work of Christ as the foundation of our faith.

VALUES

We train leaders who are; • Called- To serve God, • Faithful -To God, • Courageous- In saying as it is, • Committed -To ministry affairs, • Innovative -To advance the Kingdom business, • Fruitful - In multiplication.

Purpose Statement Growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2Peter 3:18.

LOCATION

The College is located in Kenya and the USA, but courses are now offered online, on campus, and via correspondence because “We’re wherever you are!”. Please contact us any time through the contacts provided.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

1. SCRIPTURE:

We believe in the inerrant and infallible word of God. All scripture is God breathed and 2 Tim 3:16 is our boarding call. We believe God’s word in its entirety originated from Him and used men to write the sixty-six books of the Old Testament and New Testament.

2. GOD

We believe that there is only one true God, eternally existing in three persons—The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All the three possess equal attributes of Deity and personality.

3. SALVATION

We believe that man is totally depraved. That humankind was alienated from fellowship with God and could no longer please Him. This fellowship was restored through a kaphar (atonement) that was freely given for the forgiveness of sin. The forgiveness is not as a result of good works but comes only by faith.

4.JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man. He is the second in the Godhead. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven and seated in the right hand of God and that he is coming again to take the believers to heaven and judge the unrighteous in the lake of fire. That whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (Heb. 9:22).His blood became kaphar, propitiation for our sins. He is the Mediator between God and man.

5.HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead. After Jesus ascended into heaven he promised us a helper and Comforter. He also convicts us of sin and reminds us of the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross. He permanently indwells a believer upon receiving salvation and guides the believer through the heavenward journey. He gives gifts to believers in the churches for the edification of the Body of Christ.

6.THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

We believe the believer enjoys the fellowship with God when they have accepted Jesus Christ as savior and live a righteous life through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The pilgrimage to heaven is necessitated by obedience to God through his word and holy living and not by good works alone. We believe we have been called to live and love one another and assist those who do not have especially those of the household of God.

7.HUMAN DESTINY

We believe the consummation of all things culminate into heaven for those who lived righteous lives and hell for those who refused to accept him and his saving grace. The judgement of God is just and perfect.

8.THE CHURCH

We believe in ecclesia-the holy union and fellowship of believers. The Universal church is composed of all living and dead in Christ. That all should work in harmony regardless of church affiliations. There is need to work together and encourage each other because this world is not our home. Jesus is coming soon to take us home. We do this through church fellowships and other related organizational meetings. The churches exist to glorify Him.

9. HEADSHIP

We believe Jesus Christ is the Head of the church. He oversees all the activities of the churches through the Holy Spirit (Col. 1:18). All the churches are pegged on Him.

10.UNITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES

We believe in the unity in diversity of all Christians. The Bible teaches us to maintain the unity of the body of Christ (Eph. 4:3). We also believe in the unity of any organizational structure for purposes of administration. Voting should not create a rift in our change of leadership neither should any doctrinal disputes. Christology should be our unifying factor. - Acts 6:1-6; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9.

11. CHURCH LEADERS

We recognize that God has called and gifted bishops, pastors and elders in historic succession to equip all the people of God for their ministry in the world. The order of authority should be upheld at all times so that we give way to mentorship and edify the body of Christ.

12. THE GREAT COMMISION

We gladly accept the Great commission of the risen Lord to make disciples of all nations, to seek those who do not know Christ and to baptize, teach and bring new believers to maturity.

13. ENVIRONMENTAL CARE & SOCIAL JUSTICE

We are mindful of our responsibility to be good stewards of God’s creation, to uphold and advocate justice in society, and to seek relief and empowerment of the poor and needy.

14.CHRISTIAN CHARITY

We believe that helping each other is biblical. We strive to make the Society, other Faith Based Organizations and the Body of Christ understand that unity in diversity is the strength against evil and therefore the need to practice Acts 2:42-47.

15.CHURCH ORDINANCE

We believe that Jesus Christ taught the church to observe the following ordinances for purposes of reminding the church of the fellowship with him until he comes; The Lord’s supper, Baptism by immersion, holy matrimony-marriage of man and woman. These are the efficacious sign of God’s grace and obedience for those who love him.

Mentorship Program

LOVE IN THE WORD CHURCH has always sought to bring change and impact society positively through numerous projects. As a ministry we are concerted in our ability to rely on our strength – spiritually- to reach out to as many as the Lord allows us. Joy Bible College and Seminary of LITWChurch, formerly, Joy Bible College & Seminary in Kenya, Africa, mentoring program was born out of the 10 year International Gathering of Christian Leaders Program of The Global Union of Churches’ (of which it was a part) desire to be true to their core values – Transformation of community and nation. Under this program Training and Mentoring and Equipping are our major objectives. As a Ministry we believe that training and equipping the church leadership greatly assists us towards meeting these goals. We have over the years conducted this program through our informal theology program and annual conferences. During these conferences that were held six times a year, we deliberately choose to mentor and train church leaders both in Kenya and in Africa with the aim of equipping them to fully serve in the different areas that God has called them. Most importantly, we carry out this program to help them look at themselves as having a bigger responsibility in society to dispel declension and embrace piety.

Wisdom Abounds – Elderly Pastors Program

Just because one is retired, does not mean that a pastor cannot assist the Body of Christ. There is a plethora of wisdom that leaves the church when seasoned, senior pastors decide to step down. Wisdom Abounds was born out of the Elderly Pastors program that was birthed many years ago by The Global Union of Churches in Kenya, Africa. It is unfortunate that many churches don’t have packages for their retired pastors hence a big disconnect with the rest of the world and more sadly the body of Christ. In their service to their congregations their own children did not get formal education hence an additional burden to the family and particularly the pastor. These and many other obstacles resulted in their current meager circumstances. To bridge the gap, we have endeavored to bring love and care through our trained caregivers to them. Firstly, we do it by providing food, clothes, clean water, medication and shelter where applicable. Secondly, we have introduced money generating projects to their family members to sustain them in the long run, namely, poultry keeping and subsistent farming for those who own pieces of land in order to have food and preserve for future use. The criteria we use to select who deserves to be in the program is such that we involve area residents and churches where they come from and there is a list of items they must fulfil to qualify for the adoption into the program. Currently, the program has adopted 109 pastors from ages 78-96.

This program is now going global and JBCS is doing its part by providing meaningful and useful tasks for our elderly pastors that can still lend Wisdom and a hand to various situations – like sharing their experience, wisdom, and testimony during colloquia that will exist globally. With todays technology, we can assist an elderly pastor participate from home or participate around the world. Using every scrap of help we can find to build the Kingdom of God is just what we do!
