Galatians 2:17 - 3:9
The Judaizers of Galatia kept wanting to interject the tenants and principles of the Law of Moses in the Gospel message. Jesus came to fulfill the Law because they could not make one righteous. Why? No one could keep the 632 rules at the same time, except Jesus. Abraham was the patriarch of Judaism but these Jews who perverted Christianity wanted to lift him up as a reason why the Law must be relevant to the Gospel but Abraham was a man of faith a d not a man under the Law. Genesis clearly says that Abraham believed the Lord and it was accredited to him as righteousness. Righteousness by faith is the higher or Gospel law. So Paul is so right to say that if Jesus came to elevate the Law only for Christianity to return to the Law then Jesus came and died in vain. This logic is clear and incontrovertible. In many ways, some want to complicate the Word. Their motivation so often is to create some tortuous explanation to define some deep truth when a simple understanding of the pure Gospel describes the simple truth that while we were in our sin, Christ Jesus came and died to set us free from this world to elevate us to the Kingdom of God. Giving people hope of salvation from the second and final death (final judgement) IS our work! Let us NEVER forget that. The Judaizers wanted to usurp the power of Christ to justify their own desires. There can only be one King and His name is Jesus! Amen.
