Love in the Word Church

Focus: 1 Peter 4:7-11 Do What Is Important First!

"7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

Peter had thought the the Lord was coming back quickly or that he knew his time was almost spent! In either case, what people say when they feel that times are almost over, is probably worth heeding. Peter tells us to pray and love each other since love covers many sins! This is our main focus here at Love In The WORD Church - we want us to love others and show our love for God by the way we love others. This is consistent with what Jesus said to His disciples - the world will know that you are my followers by the way you love one another!

When love is the main thread in our lives, all other things tend to fall in place. This does not mean that our lives will be without tension and testing, but it DOES mean that our lives will be peaceful and productive. Why? Love is an eternal substance so Love in the presence of temporal matter is overwhelming. It defies the norms of society and often puts the world at odds with itself. In the past and still in today, the very sight o a mixed race culture, would send the world's actions into a tailspin. people would curse them and call then traders to their own kind, and find other ugly epithets to hurl at them. Some would be taken to rage and seek to harm them bodily. You see hate cannot stand the power of love because it calms whenever and wherever it is presented and hate is fueled by confusion so that those who are confused actually destroy themselves. Love listens and provides support even in the atmosphere of change and diversity because it presents itself as the common thread a group shares even when they are each different. This is why love believes all things, hopes all things, trust all things. It is why love never fails because it outlasts any temporal or temporary matter! When we have love, we share and we do not grumble because we have peace and hope for a better tomorrow BECAUSE of love! So today, seek to find love and acquire it and it will erase the hurt and replace it with joy, regardless of what it looks like around you! This is why children laugh and play even in the worst of circumstances! For of such is the Kingdom of God! Praise Him. Amen.
